Hong Kong company keen to invest in Pekalongan


PEKALONGAN. Bali Hydro System Company Ltd., a Hong Kong-based corporation, has expressed interest to invest in Pekalongan, Central Java.

Pekalongan Mayor Asip Kholbihi stated here on Wednesday that the town has economic potential and abundant natural resources that could serve as a magnet for the investors to invest in Pekalongan.

"One of the foreign investors that has already expressed interest is a Hong Kong-based firm Bali Hydro System Company Ltd. The corporation is working in the fields of clean water management, waste disposal, health, environment, and power," he noted.

Abundant national resources in Pekalongan, such as clean water, could be used to meet the public's needs in the Pekalongan and Batang area, he remarked.

"Regardless, the usage of water is still not optimized. Hence, we need to have a major breakthrough, so we can utilize our resources for the benefit of the people," he added.

Pekalongan Water Company Head Imam Sulistyo stated that water resources in Pekalongan are considered to be abundant yet their management is low, as a huge amount of fund is needed.

"Right now, around Rp250 billion is needed to improve our amenities with something more advanced to reach more people. Thus, the involvement of the Bali Hydro System Company will really help in the management (of the water supply network)," he noted.

He pointed out that the funds will be utilized to build more amenities and a water network as far as 50 kilometers from the point of installation and will reach around 60 thousand consumers.

"We are glad to have the investors coming forward to help in improving the water network. Of course, it should be done in a good manner for the government, investor, and people," he added.
