Home Minister apologizes for KPK envelope gaffe

JAKARTA. Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has apologized to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) following the misspelling of the KPK's name in an official letter from the ministry to the KPK, which has now gone viral.

Tjahjo admitted the incident was highly embarrassing. “The Home Ministry today will be sending a formal apology to KPK leaders,” Tjahjo said via his official Twitter account on Thursday.

Tjahjo also said the staffer responsible for the mistake had been dismissed.

On the envelope containing the June 7 letter, the photo of which has circulated among the media on Thursday morning,  the KPK's name is written as ‘Corruption Protection Commission’ instead of Corruption Eradication Commission.

It was not the first time the administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has made such an administratiive blunder. Last year, the state secretary also apologized to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) for having misspelled the name of the agency as ‘National Intelligence Agency’.
