Government pursuing dam project target


JAKARTA. The government continues to boost infrastructure development, including the dam projects. The Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing on Wednesday (23/11) signed a contract for the construction of three new dams.

The projects include Leuwikeris, Ciawi, and Cipanas dam projects.

The construction of the package 1 of Leuwikeris, which is located in Ciamis, West Java, is undertaken by PT PP and PT Bahagia Bangunnusa (operational cooperation).The total value of the project is amounting Rp 867.07 billion.

The package 2 of Leuwikeris dam project will include the devolution building, hydro mechanical, and electrical works, which will be handled by the Waskita Karya and Adhi Karya under an operational cooperation.

The total value of Leuwikeris 2 project amounts to Rp 642.33 billion. Meanwhile, the Leuwikeris 3 project includes the constructions of deterrent tunnel and access road, which will be handled by PT Hutama. The total value of the project is amounting to Rp 385.46 billion.

Meanwhile, PT Yoda Karya and the operational cooperation between PT Indra Karya and PT Indah Karya will work on the package 1 of Ciawi dam project in West Java, while the package 2 will be handled by Abipraya and Sacna under a scheme of operational cooperation. Each project has Rp 25.27 billion and Rp 757.89 billion total value, respectively.

The package 1 of Cipanas dam project in West Java will be undertaken by PT Wijaya Karya and PT Jaya Kontraktor. The value of the project is amounting to Rp 925 billion. Meanwhile, a worth of Rp 448.24 billion Cipanas 2 project will be handled by Brantas Abipraya.

Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing Imam Santoso said that previously government has signed contracts of three dam projects, namely Ladongi in Sout East Sulawesi, Sukoharjo in Lampung, and Kuwil in North Sulawesi.

Imam added that the Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing targets to sign eight contracts of new dams by this year. “The contracts for two other dams, namely Napunggete and Sukamashi will be signed in the next week,” said Imam, Wednesday (23/11).

Imam also said that the government also allows private companies to involve in the dam projects. It is expected that the scheme may reduce the government’s expenditure.

Director of PT PP Aprindy said that the company will complete the mandate in an appropriate manner. “We have obligations to complete the projects in accordance the contract, in an immediate time, and in a decent quality,” Aprindy said.
